Loch Ness Retreats, incorporating Torcroft Lodges and Meiklie Lodge have made a commitment to you and to the environment to go green. The McKay and Griffin families took over ownership in September 2007 and straight away made changes to become more eco in our approach. But more is needed and so we are committed to choosing the green option where possible.

Some of these promises you will see in action when you stay. Some, you will appreciate are long-term goals and will be implemented over the next few years. For example, the heating and hot water systems will require significant amounts of investment to change to an eco option.

Our investigations into this have commenced and when it is possible to do so changes will be made.

In each lodge you will find a green pack that will give you all the information you need to help and support us in our efforts, because of course, we can’t do any of these things without your help.

So book now and try out a responsible form of travel, stay in the UK, come by car or public transport. Avoid coming by plane. Recycle, shop locally, use our earth friendly products and be green.

Our promise to you and the planet:

To recycle items that local facilities allow
To compost all peelings and non cooked food waste
To use only earth friendly cleaning products
To use only recycled paper in our marketing and admin
To discourage the use of plastic bags
To encourage the use of public transport and the bicycle
To fit only energy saving light bulbs
To ensure each lodge is well insulated
To provide water saving devices where possible
To change to a green energy supplier for electricity
To provide a no smoking environment
To encourage use of local suppliers
for foods and crafts
To encourage energy saving practices
within our own homes
To provide eco laundry options for
all bedding and for guests
To investigate new eco ways of
supplying heating and hot water
To replace old appliances with
newer ‘a’ rated appliances
To choose the organic/green product
when replacing old items
Loch Ness Retreats has made a commitment to going green. Check out our green policy here. Torcroft Lodges and Meiklie Lodge are going green right now and in every case where possible we promise to provide you with the eco option.
